- The Museum Art Collection is a series of sock sets by Calzedonia, each one featuring all-over graphics inspired by world-famous paintings. The designs are visually rich and made for women, men, or both. Calzedonia asked for an idea to promote this collection. The product is niche, yet the communication needed to reach a broader audience, striking a balance between seriousness and playfulness. Inspired by museums and art books, where these masterpieces are protagonists all over the world, we created an actual catalogue in which the socks take the stage instead of the artworks. The format is a coffee-table book combining the educational side with a more graphic and experimental one. Like art movements in traditional books, the collection is divided into chapters “for her” and “for him.” Each pair/artwork is presented with an in-depth analysis. Facts and notions become typographic compositions, visual reinterpretations, and even playful poses of the feet, echoing the concepts behind the artworks.
